Economic Releases for Thursday, 5th May 2011

Today sees the release of a range of economic data from both Europe and the US.  Note the significance of both the BoE and ECB Interest Rate decision, and of Trichet's Speech later in the afternoon.  All three of these events are likely to cause significant volatility in the market.

  • UK Purchasing Manager Index Services: 0830 GMT;
  • German Factory Orders n.s.a & s.a: 1000 GMT;
  • BoE Interest Rate Decision: 1100 GMT;
  • ECB Interest Rate Decision: 1145 GMT;
  • US Initial & Continuing Jobless Claims: 1230 GMT;
  • US Nonfarm Productivity: 1230 GMT;
  • US Unit Labor Costs: 1230 GMT;
  • Canadian Building Permits: 1230 GMT;
  • ECB Trichet's Speech: 1230 GMT;
  • Fed's Bernanke Speech: 1330 GMT;
  • Canadian Ivey Purchasing Managers Index: 1430 GMT;
  • Australia AiG Performance of Construction Index: 2330 GMT;
  • Japanese Monetary Base: 2350 GMT.
